MSNBC Omits All Coverage From Minority Speakers at ‘Racist’ RNC Convention | NewsBusters.org

When popular Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz, the GOP nominee for Senate, took the stage, MSNBC cut away from the Republican National Convention and the Hispanic Republican from Texas’ speech.

MSNBC stayed on commercial through former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis’ speech, as well. Davis, who recently became a Republican, is black. Then, when Puerto Rican Governor Luis Fortuno’s wife Luce’ Vela Fortuño took the stage minutes later, MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews opted to talk over the First Lady’s speech. And Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval? Noticeably missing from MSNBC, too. Mia Love, a black candidate for Congress in Utah, was also ignored by MSNBC.

Animal rights group calls for Shooting Times and The Field to be classed alongside porn | The Drum

Country Life magazines including Shooting Times and The Field are facing calls to be relegated to the top shelf, a spot traditionally reserved for porn magazines, by Britain’s largest animal rights charity.

In their ‘Gunning for Children: How the gun lobby recruits young blood’ report, Animal Aid claim that titles depicting country sports amount to ‘shooting porn’ which could have a ‘corrosive’ effect on children who glimpsed it.

Feds: Too few Americans ‘turn to government for assistance’ | WashingtonExaminer.com

More Americans rely on their families for assistance than the government, so federal officials have undertaken an effort to help people to apply for federal assistance.

“Given that only 15 percent of you turn to government assistance in tough times, we want to make sure you know about benefits that could help you,” USA.gov announced today.

FCC eyes tax on Internet service – The Hill’s Hillicon Valley

The Federal Communications Commission is eyeing a proposal to tax broadband Internet service.

The move would funnel money to the Connect America Fund, a subsidy the agency created last year to expand Internet access.

The FCC issued a request for comments on the proposal in April. Dozens of companies and trade associations have weighed in, but the issue has largely flown under the public’s radar.

Labor Department spent $500G in stimulus on green-job ad blitz on Olbermann, Maddow | Fox News

The Obama administration paid a PR firm nearly $500,000 in stimulus funds to run a barrage of ads on White House-friendly cable programs promoting its green job training program. According to government records, the Labor Department paid the money in late 2009 to a company that negotiated a media buy on MSNBCs “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” and “The Rachel Maddow Show.” The ad was set to run more than 100 times — 14 times a week for two months.

CBO warns of deep recession if Congress fails to avert ‘fiscal cliff’ – The Hill’s On The Money

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) on Wednesday warned the economy will enter a recession next year if the country goes over the so-called fiscal cliff.

In its most dire warning yet about the fiscal cliff, the CBO said the economy would contract by 0.5 percent in calendar year 2013 if the George W. Bush-era tax rates expire and automatic spending cuts are implemented.

Democrats last month threatened to let the nation go over the fiscal cliff unless Republicans agree to a “balanced” deficit package that includes some tax increases.
