Feds Spending $880,000 to Study Benefits of Snail Sex | CNS News

The National Science Foundation awarded a grant for $876,752 to the University of Iowa to study whether there is any benefit to sex among New Zealand mud snails and whether that explains why any organism has sex.

The study, first funded in 2011 and continuing until 2015, will study the New Zealand snails to see if it is better that they reproduce sexually or asexually – the snail can do both – hoping to gain insight on why so many organisms practice sexual reproduction.

U.S. Spends $1.18 Million on Puppets Amid Sequester

The recent canceling of White House tours in the name of sequester-related cuts understandably has disappointed children and families grousing.

Canceling tours of “the people’s house” saves taxpayers an estimated $18,000 a week, or $936,000 a year.

Putting that figure in perspective, the U.S. federal government has spent more on puppets and puppetry-related expenses than it would cost to fund an entire year’s worth of White House tours.

Yes, puppets.

Obama jet-setting: Public display of bad taste

Are we blind? Is it mass hypnosis?

There is a huge disconnect between how the Obamas live and the talk they talk.

The latest slap in the face to the poor saps known as taxpayers is the Obama daughters’ spring break at the luxury Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. Mum is the word on Her Highness Michelle, whose taste in vacation locations goes from lavish to extreme lavish.

The Obamas pick up the direct costs of their daughters’ vacations, but that is a pittance compared to the cost of the entourage that must accompany them to these exotic locations.

Thanks to Judicial Watch, we now know that Milia’s spring break to Mexico last year, along with 25 Secret Service agents, cost the taxpayers $115,500.87.

Spring break is seen as a right of passage for well-heeled, college-age kids. Bear in mind, Malia is only 14, and sister, Sasha, is 11 – and this is their third vacation of the year!

The United States has quietly unblocked almost $500 million in aid to the Palestinian Authority which had been frozen by Congress for months, a top US official said Friday.

The news that the funds had finally been freed up came after US President Barack Obama met top Israeli and Palestinian leaders in a landmark visit to Israel and the West Bank earlier this week.

Immigration Vote Splits Gang of 8 : Roll Call News

The Senate’s bipartisan immigration working group split along party lines during a contentious budget vote to prevent illegal immigrants who receive legal status from receiving federal health benefits.

The Senate early Saturday morning defeated the amendment to the budget resolution which would have put the Senate on record as opposing access to health care under Medicaid or the Affordable Care Act for undocumented immigrants who get a green card.

The amendment, which failed 43 to 56, was offered by Senate Budget ranking member Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.

All Democrats — including gang members Dick Durbin of Illinois, Bob Menendez of New Jersey, Charles E. Schumer of New York and Michael Bennet of Colorado — opposed the amendment. They were joined by Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska. All other Republicans — including immigration negotiators Marco Rubio of Florida, John McCain of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Jeff Flake of Arizona — supported the amendment.

» Big Sis Refuses To Answer Congress On Bullet Purchases Alex Jones’ Infowars: There’s a war on for your mind!

The DHS has purchased over 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the past year – enough to wage a 20 year plus war. Earlier this month, Forbes Magazine called for a “national conversation” on the matter.

During the CPAC interview, Congressman Huelscamp also spoke briefly about why he voted twice against the National Defense Authorization Act, stating that it was because of the lack of detail regarding the provision in the bill to allow for incarceration of Americans without due process.
